University Advancement
Join us in celebrating the historic success of the Aspire. Advance. Achieve. campaign — a fundraising drive that surpassed our goals ahead of the target date – and ignited a timely transformation, unlocking the talents of our students, elevating our faculty, creating opportunities for world-class research, enhancing the community and changing lives for the better. The resounding success of this campaign is a testament to the legacy of Matilda Dodge Wilson and her remarkable act of philanthropy that created Oakland University more than 60 years ago.
Transcript
>> [MUSIC] And long after our faces have disappeared from the scene, and these stones and Greg said, whithered and weathered, the real memorial to Mrs. Wilson will be written in the lives of tens of thousands of youngsters who will trod these halls, coming from every corner of the universe and studying in a great complex university, which Oakland is certain to become. Mrs. Wilson, we and our children are forever in your debt and we thank you. [MUSIC]
>> Matilda Dodge Wilson never shied away from a challenge. She pioneered this university with grit and a generous spirit. It is with this spirit and through this campaign that together we dreamed big, put new ideas to action, and transformed the future of Oakland University. We have created a campus that is welcoming, accessible, and innovative while preserving our rich history. [MUSIC]
We enhanced our community and OU's role in critical and visionary partnerships, positioning ourselves as a leader in innovation and civic responsibility. We created ambitious programs that prepare our students to be future leaders and visionaries, poised to conquer an ever-changing world. We established centers of excellence to enhance scholarly pursuit and provide opportunities for academic distinction, and we achieved the historic level of students supporting scholarships totaling over $70 million dollars, enhancing opportunities for all who wish to pursue their education at Oakland University.
>> The generosity and commitment from our donors has created a future for our students to dream big. Your support of this historic campaign has ensured Oakland's vision as a place where the aspiring will rise. The impact of these investments has only just begun. The legacy we're building will continue to strengthen our university, elevate our communities, and transform the lives of generations to come. Thanks to you, the future of Oakland has never looked so golden. [MUSIC]
